Assessment of groundwater quality from Sahibabad to Modinagar Meerut Uttar Pradesh, India using water quality index

Groundwater quality and quantity both are important for the survival of human beings on this planet. In present study an attempt has been made to assess groundwater at mass using points. To fulfil objectives study, four sites (Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, Modinagar) were selected along metro line construction from Delhi Meerut. At all these sites, workers projects living working drinking purpose. Sampling was carried out July 2021 June 2022 grab method sampling. The samples analysed pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), hardness (TH), calcium, magnesium, chloride, sulphate, nitrate, fluoride. data processed water index (WQI) Pearson correlation metrix. TDS ranged 514mg/l 549.3mg/l values above standard limit BIS (500mg/l). Values TH, calcium magnesium found limits prescribed. Concentration Chloride, fluoride below prescribed by BIS. However, nitrate is approaching (45mg/l). Correlation metrix shows that responsible increasing TDS. As per WQI, site 2 (46.7762), 3 (48.3523) 4 (48.6281) falls in good category while 1 (50.9363) poor category. There urgent need strict actions stop pollution area prevent huge population various related implications.
